Deal struck to build houses in Cardiff

A deal has been struck to build houses on a site formerly occupied by an atomic weapons factory in north Cardiff. Developer George Wimpey has bought the Atomic Weapons Establishment site and sold half to Barratt Homes. Outline permission has been granted for 330 to 350 homes. The weapons factory closed in 1997 and it took a further two years to decontaminate the site.
