The need for a bypass for Luton to be explored

The need for a bypass along the northern edge of Luton is to be explored by Halcrow for Bedfordshire County Council, Luton Borough Council and the Government Office for the East of England. The project will look at the impact of building a bypass from the M1 at Chalton to the A505 at Stopsley. Both the London to South Midlands multi-modal transport study and the Milton Keynes-South Midlands sub-regional strategy have established that such a road would tackle a number of important transport and development issues.
