Bell on... the lack of care facilities for our older generation

My mother is 94 years old. She is convalescing in hospital after an operation to fit an artificial hip. She trained as an infant school teacher, was one of the first female Cub masters and found time to play netball for County Durham. With all that activity came arthritis, hence the hip. So where now? The much-loved and valued public servant - at least they were then - becomes public enemy number one. She is a bed blocker.
