A study carried out by the mayor's office has revealed that boroughs implementing the 50 per cent target, taken together, delivered 115 per cent of their overall London Plan homes target in 2003-04.
In contrast, boroughs with a 30 per cent target for affordable housing met only 93 per cent of their overall homes requirement, while those with a 35 per cent target delivered 103 per cent.
The overall delivery rate for new homes in London last year was above required levels at 104 per cent, according to the figures. Livingstone said: "These figures show that my affordable homes targets are helping to bring more homes on stream."
