Sage Gateshead opens

The Sage Gateshead, the North East's international centre for music, will open this week.

Located on the south bank of the River Tyne, the £70 million project has taken more than four years to build with funding from the Arts Council England. It comprises a 25-room music education centre, a recording studio, a music information centre, two performing centres, a rehearsal space, an entertainment suite and bars and cafes.
