Last week the energy company fended off a High Court challenge mounted by local residents to block the development on the grounds that it conflicted with the local development plan. But Mr Justice Davis held that deputy prime minister John Prescott and trade and industry secretary Patricia Hewitt were entitled to conclude that the scheme complied with the relevant policies, rejecting claims that alternative locations had not been properly considered.
Scottish Power given green light
Scottish Power has been given the green light for a £100 million methane gas storage plant in underground caverns at Holford Brinefields in Cheshire.
