Public inquiry into Cambridgeshire CC's proposals

The public inquiry into Cambridgeshire County Council's proposals for a 23km guided busway between Huntingdon and Cambridge closed last week. Bus lanes and priority traffic signals have also been proposed in Huntingdon, St Ives and Cambridge. If successful, the busway would serve Cambridgeshire's new town, Northstowe, where up to 10,000 homes are planned. Inspector Chris Gossop will consider evidence submitted during the nine-week hearing and make recommendations to transport secretary Alistair Darling, who will then decide whether to approve the busway. The council expects a decision in the spring on the busway, which would be the UK's longest.
