Regeneration of Morecombe moves closer

The regeneration of Morecambe moved closer last week after the Northwest Development Agency pledged £4 million to redevelop a hotel in the town. Located on the seafront, the Midland Hotel will be used as a catalyst to attract wider renewal and private sector investment to the surrounding area. The grade II listed building will be restored as a 46-bedroom hotel with a cafe, bar, restaurant and spa. Early estimates indicate that it could inject £1.2 million a year into the local economy.
