Space Syntax to develop an urban design brief

Space Syntax is to develop an urban design brief to guide the regeneration of Mitcham, south London, as an urban village. The London Borough of Merton aims to develop an exemplary sustainable regeneration framework to set a high standard for development. Mitcham is one of two district centres in the borough but competition from neighbouring local centres and poor transport links mean that it has suffered commercial decline over a number of years. The council hopes to provide more attractive public space and better local shops and community facilities.
