Ministerial visit marks rail completion

A ministerial visit marked the completion of £14 million worth of rail improvements in the West Country this week. The doubling of a previously single-track section of the Great Western Main Line between Truro and St Austell in Cornwall aims to improve train punctuality, allow for growth in services and boost the region's economy. Transport minister Tony McNulty was joined by senior representatives from the rail industry and local government on a special steam train service from Plymouth to Truro to mark the completion.
