Darling urged to reject road
Transport and environment groups are urging transport secretary Alistair Darling to reject plans for the £47 million Bexhill to Hastings road. The groups, including the Campaign to Protect Rural England, cycling campaign CTC, Friends of the Earth and Transport 2000, claim that the road would damage the Combe Haven site of special scientific interest. They want East Sussex County Council to find other ways to tackle local transport problems, such as improving the A259 route and greater investment in public transport.
