Regional body demands vow on home need

Government plans for the Milton Keynes-South Midlands growth area need more commitment to affordable homes, according to a regional body this week.

The South East England Regional Assembly, in its response to proposed changes to the sub-regional strategy for the area, called for detailed targets for affordable housing in Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. Need is "critical" in this area, its regional planning committee stressed.

The committee also called for stronger commitment to infrastructure and a reinstatement of the commitment to the east-west rail link in the sub-region.

Milton Keynes' committee member Graham Mabbutt said: "We are very concerned about the lack of commitment to infrastructure and would like to see the affordable housing figures reintroduced."
