Plans for Chatterley Whitfield colliery move forward

Plans to redevelop the former Chatterley Whitfield colliery site in Stoke-on-Trent are moving forward with a planning application to improve the existing road. The designs, prepared for English Partnerships, aim to upgrade the route's safety and drainage. A roundabout at the junction of the site's entrance will be built to cater for future traffic. Work is due to start in the spring. The project forms part of English Partnerships' national coalfields programme, with partners English Heritage, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Advantage West Midlands.
