Former Green Party London mayoral candidate Darren Johnson accuses Ken Livingstone

Former Green Party London mayoral candidate Darren Johnson has accused incumbent Ken Livingstone of failing to use his powers to prevent a business park from being built on a rare grazing marsh. The London Borough of Bexley is due to reconsider its decision to approve Tilfen Land's application for a business park at Southmere Green on Erith Marshes. The developer was forced to prepare a fresh environmental statement following a legal challenge by opponents. In correspondence with Johnson, Livingstone said that he cannot reconsider the application because he waived the right to direct refusal when it was first submitted. Johnson insisted that defects in the original environmental impact assessment invalidated the earlier permission.
