Opening of primary school in Wales

The opening of a primary school last week marked the completion of a £20 million regeneration scheme in Caerphilly, south Wales. The school was opened by Wales's minister for social justice and regeneration Edwina Hart to celebrate the rejuvenation of the former mining community. The development is one of the largest schemes of its kind in the country, incorporating a childcare centre, improved transport links, a community and health centre and business facilities. The project received funding from the Welsh Development Agency, the European Regional Development Fund, the National Lottery and Caerphilly County Borough Council.
