Fyson on ... blind protests against homes in eastern England

A shameful chorus of unqualified disapproval has greeted the East of England Regional Assembly's start on planning for the half a million homes needed in the region over the next 20 years. Conservative shadow housing and planning minister John Hayes says that these homes would "swamp" or "blitz" the countryside and would lead directly to "26 towns the size of Slough being built over England's green spaces".
