Deal struck to push through Thurrock plan

A partnership has been formed to drive forward the regeneration of the East Tilbury and Linford areas of Thurrock.

Thamesgate Regeneration, a joint venture between Colonnade Residential and Lansbury Holdings, plans to deliver a boost to housing and employment numbers in the borough. Draft regional planning guidance allocates the construction of 18,000 houses in Thurrock by 2025.

East Tilbury, former home of the Bata shoe company, was created as a garden village in the 1930s. As well as homes, Thamesgate aims to deliver transport infrastructure, education and health care facilities, retail and commercial space and skills and training opportunities.

Managing director Alastair Watson said: "Our proposals could be the most significant in the East of England." The company has appointed LDA Design to do the masterplan.
