Regeneration News Brief: A draft plan to transform the west end of Morecambe ...

A draft plan to transform the west end of Morecambe was published by Lancaster City Council last week. The plan is a long-term vision for the whole area organised into different development phases. The council, the West End Partnership, English Partnerships and the Northwest Development Agency are supporting the plan. It took four months to be drawn up after consultation with the local community, organisations and partners. The key proposals include creating areas of public open space, upgrading streets and sections of promenade, improving access, remodelling houses in multiple occupation into family homes and clearing poorer housing stock.
