In brief: Fresh approach developed by CPRE

A fresh approach to consulting communities about their landscapes is being developed by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE). Under its countryside character project, which is part-funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the CPRE will ask village residents to comment on what they value about their landscapes and how it should be protected and improved. These views will be drawn together to produce a community landscape character statement, which will be used to influence decisions about such areas. Pilot events are taking place in Lilleshall in Shropshire and Broughton in Hampshire.
