In brief: CPRE briefing paper on phone masts

There are likely to be more than 50,000 mobile phone masts in the UK by the end of 2007, 20 per cent more than at present, the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) warned this week. A CPRE briefing paper argues that the government should tighten the planning regime for new masts to prevent them becoming a scar on the countryside.
