Casebook: Appeal Cases - Clarification

In response to our report on the case of Tromans v Cannock Chase District Council (Planning, 13 August, p20), the council has pointed out that the committee chair received confirmation from three officers that the vote was accurate. However, the issue centred on a query about the accuracy of the count made outside the committee meeting. This query was not passed to the chair, who therefore did not have the opportunity to consider whether the vote should be retaken.
