Regeneration News: The number of non-decent social homes ...

The number of non-decent social homes has been reduced by one million since 1997, deputy prime minister John Prescott said last week. Prescott was announcing £3 billion of funding to further reduce the total by 170,000, with 58 schemes to bring more homes up to standard. The schemes will draw on funding from 12 arm's-length management organisations, 37 housing transfer schemes and nine private finance initiative schemes.
