Regeneration News brief: Work begins on Hilton Tower in Manchester

Work has begun on what is claimed to be the UK's highest residential tower. The £155 million 47-storey Hilton Tower in Manchester will comprise more than 17,000 sq m of housing, 6,500 sq m of office space and a 21,375 sq m Hilton hotel. The development, built by the Beecham Organisation and designed by Ian Simpson Architects, will stand at 310 Deansgate. At 169m it will be the tallest structure in Manchester city centre.
