In brief: Bid to ban night flights fails

A bid to ban night flights at European airports has failed in the European parliament after receiving little support from MEPs. Only 54 members backed the proposal, launched by Green Party MEP Caroline Lucas in London earlier this year. But John Stewart, chairman of lobby group HACAN Clear Skies, said: "Night flights are now being talked about in the corridors of power across Europe. We intend to build on that."
