Casebook: Three turbines agreed as larger scheme dismissed

The deputy prime minister has granted planning permission for a cluster of three wind turbines in north-east Lancashire after concluding that their landscape impact would be acceptable. However, he rejected a larger scheme for 12 turbines, accepting his inspector's conclusion that the local impact outweighed any benefits associated with the promotion of renewable energy development.
