A flagship £4.8 million office project is due to start on site this month in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. Developer Kier Northern has won the contract to build the project, which is expected to create around 800 jobs. Funded by the Northwest Development Agency (NWDA), the speculative venture is aimed at helping to transform the town's economic fortunes. Stewart Swift, NWDA area manager for Cumbria, said: "This centre has the potential to raise further investment by encouraging business confidence and increasing economic growth."
