NEWS IN BRIEF: A committee of MPs is to examine ...

A committee of MPs is to examine government policy for tackling the regional productivity gap. The inquiry, called by the Commons Treasury committee, will focus on progress towards achieving a cross-departmental public service agreement set out in the 2002 spending review. Issues that the committee will examine include the reasons for differing productivity levels and the effect of domestic and European spending on growth rates.
