A team of experts has been appointed to help the government combat climate change and promote sustainable energy production. Trade and industry secretary Patricia Hewitt and environment secretary Margaret Beckett announced this week that the Sustainable Energy Policy Advisory Board will work with the government on implementing its energy white paper. The document will outline a long-term commitment to safe, affordable, competitive and environmentally-friendly energy production. Sir John Collins, chairman of Dixons and former chairman of National Power and Shell UK, will chair the new board.
