REGENERATION BRIEF: Barrow Council displays proposals

Barrow Borough Council has put proposals on display for the £100 million regeneration of Barrow Port. It wants the 162ha site to attract investment to developments linking the town centre and its port. Among the more unusual possibilities are a submarine heritage centre and a warm water wildlife centre. There will also be new homes and a business park. A £50 million public funding package is being developed by West Lakes Renaissance, Cumbria County Council and the borough.
