BUSINESS BRIEF: Consultancy Halcrow is calling for evidence on the cost of duplicated work ...

Consultancy Halcrow is calling for evidence on the cost of duplicated work by planners when processing applications through different consent regimes. The firm is leading a team probing the potential of unified consent regimes for the ODPM. It is seeking a better understanding of the implications that unification may have on costs. Anecdotal evidence obtained by Halcrow points to some duplication of effort in considering, processing and determining applications, in particular for planning permission, listed building consent and conservation area consent. The team is hoping to hear from anybody who has quantitative data on the scale of this duplication. Information should be sent to Peter Crozier (tel) 01793 816556, (e-mail) CrozierP@halcrow.com.
