A rational debate about affordable housing supply in Scotland has been called for by deputy communities minister Mary Mulligan. Speaking at the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations annual conference last week, Mulligan said that the housing sector must strike a balance between new development, affordable housing and low-cost home ownership. "What matters is that we have sufficient housing of the right size, type and quality in the right places."
