National Trust members' bid to halt housing development on disused land at the trust's Cliveden estate in Buckinghamshire has failed. A resolution opposing 191 homes proposed on the site of a former Canadian Red Cross hospital was defeated at the trust's annual general meeting last week. More than 47,000 voted against the resolution, with around 33,000 in favour and 4,000 abstentions. The trust expects to submit an application to South Bucks District Council by the end of the year.
