Minister asks businesses to back service

Business leaders have been challenged by the government to join it in giving financial support to the RTPI's Planning Aid service.

In his speech to the National Planning Aid Conference this week, planning minister Keith Hill called on businesses in the construction, development and property sector to back the expansion of the service.

The ODPM is also asking business leaders to explore ways in which they can use Planning Aid's expertise to achieve better development through consultation processes that engage local communities.

"Planning Aid has a crucial role to play in making planning more community driven," said Hill. "A better understanding of the planning system will benefit everyone in the long term."
