Youth views sought on homes of future

A study into the aspirations of future house buyers was launched by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) Education last week.

The internet-based project offers 12 to 14-year-olds an opportunity to voice their views on housing issues. The study is backed by the Citizenship Foundation.

Six scenarios for housing in 2023 are presented on the website, from suburban-style housing to eco-friendly sustainable homes. Students have until 20 November to vote for their preferred vision and to log their opinions. The study will feed into a government-sponsored report on the future of housing.

Ben Spencer, head of CABE Education, said: "We want the views of this generation, who will be the users of the new and renewed housing proposed in the sustainable communities plan."
