IN BRIEF: Four developers on shortlist for Lewisham development

Four developers are on the shortlist for Lewisham Gateway development in south-east London, it was announced this week. Amec, Bellway-Bridehall, Berkeley Homes and Vinci have been invited to prepare detailed bids for the scheme to transform a 3.2ha site in Lewisham town centre. The mixed-use development will provide shops, housing and offices along with an improved transport interchange. The scheme is one of ten projects being piloted as part of the London mayor's Making Space for Londoners plan. The successful bidder will be announced in March 2004, with work expected to start in 2006.
