NEWS IN BRIEF: The future of plans for an offshore wind farm in south Wales ...

The future of plans for an offshore wind farm in south Wales is being debated at a public inquiry which started this week. United Utilities has submitted an application to build 30 turbines at Scarweather Sands off the coast at Porthcawl. The turbines would generate enough power for 82,000 homes. The scheme has met with local opposition but is supported by Friends of the Earth Cymru. The inquiry is set to last four to six weeks.
