The Aerial Glide, which is set into the hillside above the Saltaire world heritage site in West Yorkshire was built in 1900 at the Shipley Glen Pleasure Grounds, a Victorian amusement park that was developed for mill workers from nearby Bradford. Resident Mike Short applied to English Heritage for the structure to be given emergency listing following the submission of an outline application by the park's owner to redevelop the site for housing. Following intervention by the government's conservation agency, the ride has been given a grade II listing.
