Amount of green belt land deallocated by councils in 2020/21 drops by almost half

There has been a sharp fall in the amount of land deallocated from the green belt in councils’ local plans, dropping 44 per cent from 3,170 hectares in 2019/20 to 1,760 hectares in 2020/21, according to the latest government statistics.
