Damning watchdog report finds £1.8 million overspend by council planning department

A report by a national public expenditure watchdog has found “significant and long-standing performance issues” in a council’s planning department, including overspending by £1.8 million over a five-year period and a mounting backlog of planning application and enforcement cases.
