CIL Watch: Self build exemption does not apply to retrospective permissions, judge rules

A guideline case on the exemption of self-build projects from the community infrastructure levy (CIL), in which a judge ruled that the opt out does not apply where retrospective planning permission has been granted for a development already carried out, resulted in a homeowner being ordered to pay almost £120,000 in charges.
