Latest government figures report spike in planning applications in first quarter of 2021

Planning authorities received 124,400 planning applications between January and March 2021, up 20 per cent from the same quarter in 2020, according to the latest government figures, though the number of homes permitted in 2020/21 fell to under 300,000 units for the first time in five years.
