Watchdog finds ONS population projections for Coventry and some other small cities to be ‘potentially too high’

A review by the UK statistics regulator of population projections produced by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which form the basis of councils' housing need allocations, has found that in Coventry and other "smaller cities with large student populations" the estimates appeared to be “inconsistent with, and potentially higher than, local evidence suggests".
