Secretary of state approves two crematoria on the basis of need

The secretary of state has approved two separate crematoria in the Staffordshire green belt, both in valued landscapes, in redetermined appeals following their earlier High Court quashing. In both cases the harm to the green belt caused by inappropriateness and loss of openness, and other harms, were outweighed by the need for the facilities and other benefits. The appeals were quashed for a lack of the need for both crematoria being considered previously and a general lack of rebalancing considerations.
