Plans approved for 12,500-capacity Gateshead entertainment venue and conference centre

Plans have been approved for a 12,500-capacity entertainment arena, a conference and exhibition centre and a hotel on a car park site in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, despite recognition from planners that the scheme would be likely to result in "significant" demand on the local roads network.
