Combined authority launches 'virtual room' consultation into road upgrade plans

The Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority has launched an "online virtual public event" including a "virtual room", as part of the consultation process for plans to upgrade the A10 between Ely and Cambridge.

The combined authority is behind proposals to upgrade the road to include dual lanes in both directions. There would also be eight junction upgrades.

The body says that the scheme would unlock up to 14,000 new jobs at Cambridge Science Park and neighbouring innovation centres, and "release new sustainable housing opportunities, including an additional 10,000 new homes at the new town north of Waterbeach".

The authority is currently seeking feedback on the eight route options for the scheme.

As part of the public consultation into the proposals, the combined authority has created a new "online virtual public event".

In a "virtual room" there are consultation boards setting out the authority's case for the need for the scheme; how the route options were selected; and how it would affect public transport.

There is also an online survey for visitors to submit feedback.

The virtual exhibition runs until Tuesday 14 July.
