Advert displayed above ‘vertical meadow’ successful

A 48-sheet digital advertising display sited above a ‘vertical meadow’ on a building in Northamptonshire would not harm the amenity of the area, an inspector decided, the meadow complementing trees nearby.

The vertical meadow would incorporate various wild flowering species which, due to their size and slender profiles, would not, in combination with the advertisement, appear unduly excessive in scale. The illumination would be acceptable at night and the images would change every 10 seconds which, while drawing people’s attention, would not appear overtly intrusive. The meadow would be consistent with mature trees nearby and therefore the amenity of the area would be preserved.
