Coronavirus: Latest industry guidance

Planning sector bodies have published various guidance documents for those working within the planning sector during the pandemic.

The Planning Inspectorate (PINS) has published guidance for staff and participants in appeal inquiries, hearings and site visits and local plan and Nationally-Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) examinations. More.

Local authority body the Planning Officers Society has published guidance for councils on committee decision-making during the coronavirus outbreak, including suggestions on virtual committees and emergency delegated powers. More.

The Local Government Association's Planning Advisory Service has published new advice and resources for planners on how they should respond to the coronavirus pandemic. It includes advice on a wide range of day-to-day planning activities, including consultations, application submissions, site notices and CIL payments. More.

PAS has also created a "hints & tips" guide to running a virtual planning committee. PAS says: "We've created a guide to help get you up and running. It is focussed on how people need to be supported, the changes needed to guidance and procedures, and the creative use of technology that will allow you to continue to operate in the short term."
