The Examiner's report on the Canterbury CIL draft charging schedule was issued on 4 November 2019. The Examiner found that, provided a modification was made, the schedule would provide an appropriate basis for the collection of the levy in the city.
Approved rates include:
- Three residential development charging zones with rates of £187, £82 and £0 per square metre.
- Large flatted developments will not be charged.
- Two charging zones for older person housing developments with rates of £187 and £0 per square metre.
- Student accommodation developments wil be charged £103 per square metre.
- Two hotel development charging zones with rates of £34 and £0 per square metre.
- Two comparison retail development (A1) charging zones with rates of £178 and £0 per square metre.
- Two supermarket development charging zones with rates of £37 and £0 per square metre.
- No charge for all other uses.
