Out-of-date plan heralds green belt release for housing

Outline planning permission has been granted for a residential development of 92 homes at a reclaimed opencast coal mine in the North Lanarkshire green belt, subject to a planning obligation being secured and despite conflict with the adopted local plan. The benefits of the new homes were judged to outweigh the harm to the green belt and other harms.
