Knowsley Borough Council is considering a hybrid application, submitted by housebuilder Redrow Homes, for the residential scheme, which would be within the East of Halewood Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE), a site allocated for development in the council’s local plan.

The application covers two plots and seeks full consent for the first phase of development in each plot and outline consent for the second phase. The overall SUE site covers 80 hectares.

The applicant’s design and access statement says: "The East of Halewood SUE is expected to become a desirable residential community serving south Liverpool and the wider Liverpool City Region area. It is expected the development will demonstrate a high standard in quality of design, construction, environmental standards and public realm."

It adds that the site "acts as a gateway to Knowsley, and new buildings, landscaping and public green spaces will be of a quality which demonstrates and supports the borough’s growth and investment potential".

The statement adds that the site forms part of the development plan and the council has produced guidance including a masterplan and a supplementary planning document (SPD) to provide a framework for the development.

Further details on the application can be found on the council’s website here by searching for application number 19/00521/HYB.
